Torture in Our Backyard
—presented by Claire Deroche of UUCSR. Solitary confinement beyond 15 days has been declared torture by the United Nations in its Mandela Rules and by hundreds of faith communities. Yet the practice persists. Why? What can people of faith do to end this cruel and inhumane practice? We will examine the ethical roots of resistance to this practice as well as concrete actions we can take to end “Torture in Our Backyard.”
